St. Patrick’s Day Smoothie

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with my favorite Green Smoothie recipe!

Green Energizer Smoothie

Serves 2, Prep Time: 5 mins

Ingredients

1 large handful spinach leaves or kale

1 banana, chopped & frozen

1 cup peeled pineapple

1 tsp ground flaxseed

1 date to sweeten

1 tsp super – green powder (optional but

recommended)

1/2 cucumber

1 ½ cups coconut water

Method

Put all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until thick and creamy. Drink half immediately and store the rest in a flask for later. Enjoy!

Benefits

Spinach is a good source of beta-carotene, iron and folic acid. It helps to prevent anaemia, improves memory and is an antioxidant. Bananas are a rich in potassium and fibre and are a good source of energy. Pineapples are also a good source of potassium and vitamin c and therefore help boost the immune system. Flaxseeds are a good source of fibre and omega – 3 essential fatty acids. Cucumber is a good source of hydration, is high in calcium and folic acid. Coconut water is rich in electrolytes and is an effective natural energy drink.
